Hi there ― thanks for dropping by!

On my mind

I love talking about (and writing about!) historical expeditions, adventure, endurance, survival, conquerors and conquered civilizations, heroism, triumph and tragedy. I like stories that are epic in scope, that are important moments in human history. I also enjoy high level literary fiction. I have dabbled in television, having been on two seasons of a History Channel Show called DECODED, so I love historical mysteries, too.

Why I'm excited to talk with readers

I am so appreciative to have an audience and really enjoy speaking with my readers. They ask terrific questions and inspire me to keep researching and writing.

I'm really looking forward to talking to readers and sharing ideas and stories!

Please be in touch ― I look forward to talking with you.

Empire of Ice and Stone

This Disastrous and Heroic Voyage of the Karluk

Set against the backdrop of the Titanic disaster and World War I, filled with heroism, tragedy, and scientific discovery, Buddy Levy's Empire of Ice and Stone tells the story of two men and two distinctively different brands of leadership―one selfless, one self-serving―and how they would forever be bound by one of the most audacious and disastrous expeditions in polar history, considered the last great voyage of the Heroic Age of Discovery.

“Levy’s masterful storytelling put a chill in my bones and despair in my heart as the survivors of the Karluk tragedy struggled onward. A wonderful telling of a terrible voyage.”

― Jim Davidson, high-altitude climber and author of The Next Everest.

Labyrinth of Ice

The Triumphant and Tragic Greely Polar Expedition

In July 1881, Lt. A.W. Greely and his crew of 24 scientists and explorers were bound for the last region unmarked on global maps. Their goal: Farthest North. What would follow was one of the most extraordinary and terrible voyages ever made.

Labyrinth of Ice tells the true story of the heroic lives and deaths of these voyagers hell-bent on fame and fortune―at any cost―and how their journey changed the world.

“A thrilling and harrowing story. If it’s a cliche to say I couldn’t put this book down, well, too bad: I couldn’t put this book down.”

― Jess Walter, bestselling author of Beautiful Ruins
